MPD Holds Educational Seminar

The Madison Police Department is launching a series of educational presentations aimed at helping residents protect themselves from falling prey to frauds and scams.

The first seminar will be led by Det. Pat Green, of the MPD's East District, and will deal with crimes associated with Craigslist.

The class will be held on Tuesday, December 13th, in the East District's Community Room from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The East District is located at 809 S. Thompson Dr. Those interested in attending can contact the East District by phone: 266-4887, or be email: Space is limited.

The program will focus on how to identify scams before you become a victim of one.

"We would like your help in stopping these crimes by becoming empowered with knowledge and helping to prevent friends and family from being the next victim," said Det. Green.

Future MPD presentations will focus on: home improvement fraud, bank letter scams, door to door sales criminals, Nigerian scams, elder abuse fraud, and other fraudulent activity on the internet.
