Public Invited to East Police District

The Madison Police Department would like to invite you to join us from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the East Police District on Tuesday, August 4th, 2008 to celebrate National Night Out.

National Night Out is an opportunity for friends, neighbors and businesses to gather to learn more about personal safety and property security. National Night Out is an annual neighborhood based crime and drug prevention event celebrated in all 50 states. It is an opportunity to show neighborhood spirit and strengthen partnerships with the local police. It also demonstrates a neighborhood commitment to fight crime.

We will be hosting an open house at the East Police District. You will be able to chat with an MPD Canine Officer Henry Wilson and his partner Ivan, as well as visit with representatives of the Mounted Policing Team. Police vehicles and other equipment will be on display along with crime prevention information. We will also be hosting a bike rodeo, so we invite kids to bring their bikes and participate in a fun safety course.

We will have ice cream and other handouts and prizes for the kids who attend. The Madison Police Department is grateful to the Target Corporation who worked to bring National Night Out to our community. We encourage you to thank this sponsor as well as Schoeps for donating their ice cream. We look forward to celebrating National Night Out with you. Together we can insure that Madison's East side remains a great place to live, to work, to play, and to learn.
