To Be Held Friday & Saturday

This Friday and Saturday, April 17th & 18th, Madison Police will team up with Mid-West Family Broadcasting again to raise funds for Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center.

Safe Harbor provides the best possible environment for police officers, and others, to talk with children who have been victimized by crime, or who have witnessed crime. Young people are able to provide videotaped statements, which can be used in court - saving children from having to testify.

Prior to 1999, when Safe Harbor opened, children often had to be interviewed multiple times: law enforcement, child protection workers, medical professionals, counselors, and prosecuting attorneys are among those often in need of information.

Proceeds from this year's Safe Harbor Radio-A-Thon will pay for interpreting services for forensic interviews of Spanish-speaking children, and mental health services for child abuse victims.

It will be held Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on WTDY Talk Radio 1670.

Saturday the fundraiser goes from English to Spanish, by moving over to La Movida 1480. Hours will also be from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

To make donations during the Radio-A-Thon, people can call (608) 442-9369 or (866) 443-9459.

Checks can also be sent to: Safe Harbor, 836 E. Main St., Madison, WI, 53703.

April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
