UPDATE 2: Reconstruction of Milwaukee Street Bridge at Starkweather Creek and Milwaukee Street-Fair Oaks Avenue Intersection

posted

Speedway Sand & Gravel will begin reconstruction of the Milwaukee Street Bridge over the Starkweather Creek and the Milwaukee Street and Fair Oaks Avenue intersection on Wednesday, July 15th.  The project is expected to last until early November.

Milwaukee Street east of Fair Oaks Avenue and the bridge will be closed starting July 28th and will be closed for the duration of the project. A signed detour will be provided.

Milwaukee Street west of Fair Oaks Avenue and the intersection will be phased to maintain one lane of traffic. Access will be maintained to driveways unless work is directly in front of the driveway.

In addition, there will be some other minor lane closures at the intersection:

  • July 20th to July 21th: Southbound lanes on Fair Oaks Avenue between Wells Avenue and Milwaukee Street will be closed
  • July 21th to July 27th: Westbound lanes on Milwaukee Street between Fair Oaks Avenue and Powers Avenue will be closed

Travel delays are expected during the morning and afternoon rush hours.  Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes.

The project includes replacing the bridge, reconstructing the intersection, and improving underground utilities, lighting and traffic signals.  Additional information about the project can be found on the City’s Engineering Projects webpage:
