Indian Hills Park Playground Replacement - Contract: 2018 Playground Replacements Group 1 (8154)
Last Updated: 09/13/2018
Work is complete on the project to replace the playground at Indian Hills Park - the playground can now be played on!
Finish grading, seeding and matting of the disturbance areas of both the playground and the new asphalt bike path are now complete!
Please help Parks to get grass established in these areas by utilizing the new paths and staying off of the erosion control matting as much as possible - thank you!
Contractor Madison Commercial Landscapes, Inc., who submitted the lowest (and only) bid received of $122,248.50 at the opening on 3/22/18 completed work at the site in conjunction with subcontractor Dresen Decks & Patios the week of July 23rd.
Work under the contract also includes the replacement of the Dudgeon School Park playground - which will begin after school lets out in early June and the replacement of the playground at Odana Hills Park, which completed the week of June 18th. All sites within the contract are anticipated to be completed on or before early August 2018.

Parks began public meetings to discuss the project in advance of the finalization of the budget to keep the planning and construction bidding process on-schedule for construction in 2018. The first of two meetings was held on October 26th to discuss playground equipment age range, surfacing, proposed project location, timeframe and budget. Materials from that session can be found at the links, below.
There were no attendees from the neighborhood present at the second meeting (on 11/29 at Sequoya Library) for Indian Hills Park to vote from among two proposals from the manufacturer (Playworld) selected during the first workshop meeting for the specific equipment to be installed at the park; however Indian Hills Neighborhood Association stepped forward with a survey conducted via Next Door and received 15 votes, with a majority preference for Option #2, so Parks staff will proceed with that directive. Both proposals are shown, below, in the colors (dark green and browns) and age-range (5-12) that were also selected during the first workshop session.
