Olin Park Boat Launch

Last Updated: 10/26/2017

City Parks Division is proposing to replace the concrete ramps at the Olin Park Boat Launch in 2018.  The existing boat launch was constructed in 1985 and the concrete ramps are showing signs of cracking and deterioration.   A lake bed survey also showed a scour hole has formed off the end of the boat launch ramps.  Lake bed material has been jetted away from the end of the ramps due to the power loading of boats and this material has formed a mound beyond the hole.

As part of the project the City is proposing to remove and replace the concrete ramps in their current location.  The concrete abutments are in good condition and will remain in place.  The scour hole will have heavy rip rap added to it for a distance of 10' in back of the concrete ramp to reduce future scouring.  There is also a proposed 4" high bump proposed to be installed at the end of the boat ramp to warn users of the ramp end.  This bump will also help divert water upward from the lake bed during power loading and minimize lake bed damage.

The concrete ramps will be reinstalled in the same location and footprint but at a slightly more gentile grade to allow for easier launching.  A small section of asphalt in the parking lot will also need to be removed and replaced with the concrete ramps to allow for slope adjustment.

This work is anticipated to start as soon as ice is out in the spring, approximately March 15th and be completed by opening weekend of fishing on May 5th, 2018.

City Parks will hold a Public Informational Meeting on the project at the below time and location.
