Reminders: Leaf Collection and Holiday Garbage/Recycling
postedLeaf Collection Information:
-
Leaf collection is not guaranteed to occur again this year because there is limited time available to perform this task before a winter storm hits our city.
-
Streets Division crews will continue collecting leaves/yard waste for as long as the weather allows, but it is so late in the year, they may not be able to get to everyone again before a winter storm hits.
- The Streets Division will lose six days of collection due to the Thanksgiving holiday and the subsequent re-assignment of personnel to make up refuse & recycling collection due to the holiday.
- Many neighborhoods will not see their next yard waste collection until December, or possibly mid-December if weather permits. However, the further we get into December the threat of a snow storm increases.
- Any leaf piles the Streets Division cannot collection before a significant winter storm hits will be frozen in place until the spring.
- Drop-off sites are available and they remain on expanded hours until December 9.
- The drop-off sites that accept yard waste are located at 1501 W. Badger Rd, 4602 Sycamore Ave, and 402 South Point Rd.
- Expanded drop-off site hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm seven days a week and until 8:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
- On December 9, winter hours start.
- Winter hours are 7:30am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday.?

Additional Information Regarding Holiday Collections
In order to collect refuse and recycling from two collection districts in a single shift, the Streets Division diverts crews from other services such as leaf collection and large item collection. Therefore, residents requiring large item collection or leaf collection should anticipate delays, or consider bringing the material to a drop-off site.
More information regarding all services provided by the Streets Division can be found on the Streets Division website.
