Contractor Madison Commercial Landscapes Inc. (Fitchburg, WI) has completed the installation of the new wood mulch surfacing following installation of the playground equipment by subcontractor Dressen Decks & Patios.  The orange construction fence has come down, and the playground is ready for play!

Updates on the construction, including photographs, will be posted to this site as they become available.

All questions and comments regarding Waldorf Park playground should be directed to Kate Kane, Landscape Architect, at kkane@cityofmadison.com or (608) 261-9671.

BACKGROUND:
The Parks Division held two public input meetings regarding the project: the first as part of the 2017 Playgrounds Group 2 Workshop on November 3, 2016 and a follow-up session with the neighborhood on December 6, 2016.

At the second meeting, attendees asked for revisions to the selected 5-12 age range equipment Option #2 design to include the addition of a shop/storefront window and to swap the Snake Climber for a Disc Climber.  These changes will be requested from the manufacturer for pricing and if the budget can accommodate them will be added to the proposals and posted here and sent to meeting attendees for review.

UPDATE:
The revised proposal from Playcraft is posted below. The revision reflects the neighborhood's preference for the overall design of Option 2 with the following changes: the Disc Climbers (shown on Option 1) replace the Snake Climber originally shown, a storefront/shop window has been added and a solid pipe rail climber replaces the Chain Net Climber, which is vinyl coated chain and not well received by the Park Playground Tech.
