Wingra Park Shoreline Restoration
Last Updated: 10/08/2019
City of Madison Engineering and Parks Divisions completed a project along the Wingra Park Shoreline in 2018. The project included stabilizing approximately 350 linear feet of shoreline, replacing the wooden platform, replacing the existing asphalt path, installing a graded canoe and kayak launch, and installing a set of limestone steps. The shoreline was stabilized with a combination of glacial field stone revetment and encapsulated soil lifts, which incorporate native vegetation into the stabilization design. Additionally, a buffer of native vegetation was planted along the shoreline, above the bank.
The City held a Public Input Meeting on this project on September 7th, 2017. For a link to materials presented at this meeting, click Wingra Shoreline Presentation.
