City of Madison Engineering and Parks Divisions will be completing a project along the Wingra Park Shoreline in 2018. The project will include stabilizing approximately 350 linear feet of shoreline, replacing the wooden platform, replacing the existing asphalt path, installing a graded canoe and kayak launch, and installing a set of limestone steps. The shoreline will be stabilized with a combination of glacial field stone revetment and encapsulated soil lifts, which incorporate native vegetation into the stabilization design. Additionally, a buffer of native vegetation will be planted along the shoreline, above the bank. Work will occur in early spring 2018 or late fall 2018, depending on when the City receives the necessary permits to complete the work.
The City held a Public Input Meeting on this project on September 7th, 2017. For a link to materials presented at this meeting, click Wingra Shoreline Presentation.
