Theft from Autos this Week - Please lock your vehicles at night!

May 8, 2015 4:36 PM

Since the beginning of this week there have been at least 14 theft from auto incidents in West District.  Many, if not all of the vehicles were left unlocked.  Low-value items were reported taken - sunglasses, spare change, etc.  Vehicles were entered during the overnight hours from approximately 10:30 PM to 6:30 AM.

A few reminders to help ensure your Mother's Day weekend isn't ruined by an opportunistic thief:

  • Do not leave valuable items in your unattended car - especially do not leave valuables in plain sight.
  • Always lock your vehicle - even when it is parked in your driveway.
  • Do not leave the vehicle keys in your car.
  • If your car isn't parked in your garage, consider not leaving a garage door opener in it (easy access for a burglar).
  • Make sure you shut your garage door at night.
  • Keep your garage service door shut and locked.

Have a safe weekend.
