Details(UPDATED RELEASE 11/30/2009)
The Madison Police Department plans on arresting Donte Beasley, age 38, Madison, for three counts of Attempted First Degree Intentional Homicide once he is released from a local hospital, where he remains under police guard.
Beasley is accused of shooting his 42-year old girlfriend, and their two children: ages seven and eight Saturday morning inside the family’s home in the 1400 block of Loreen Drive. The investigation indicates Mr. Beasley was intoxicated, and that he started a confrontation with his girlfriend around 6:15 a.m. Saturday morning. During the ensuing violence Mr. Beasley used a handgun to shoot the three victims. He was found inside the residence with self-inflicted cuts to the neck, which were life-threatening injuries.
Following the domestic violence the children’s mother – despite having been shot multiple times – was able to run to a neighbor’s home and summon help. Chief Noble Wray commends her heroism, and the life-saving care given by the many first-responders from both the Madison Police Department and the Madison Fire Department. Chief Wray also believes it is important to recognize the first-rate medical care provided to the victims, and to the suspect, once they arrived at the hospital. In addition, Chief Wray would like to thank neighborhood residents for their assistance in the investigation, and their continued support of the family.
The children, their mother, and the suspect are all conscious and in stable condition.
Officers responded to the 1400 block of Loreen Dr at approximately 6:18am ref a reported shooting. The responding officers were directed to the above address where additional injured persons were located. Four people including a 38-year-old male, 42-year-old female, 8-year-old female, and 7-year-old male were transported to a local hospital for treatment of various injuries.
At this time all parties involved have been located and there are no additional suspects at large. The incident appears to be domestic related and there is no on-going threat to the general public.
This investigation is still on-going.
