DetailsTwo MPD officers will be nominated for life-saving awards after coming to the aid of citizens during separate calls Sunday.
Around 6:30 p.m., one was dispatched to a Carpenter St. home after a 62-year old woman collapsed on the living room floor. Family members waived the officer into the home, and the officer performed CCR until Madison Fire paramedics arrived. The woman was transported to a hospital where doctors believed she would survive.
Earlier, around 5:15 a.m., another officer was sent to Merritt Ridge where a 74-year old man was not breathing. HIs wife led the officer to her husband who was down on the kitchen floor. The officer administered CCR for approximately 5 minutes before paramedics took over. They were able to obtain a pulse and take the man to a hospital.
The officer stayed with the man's wife until an adult son arrived.
