Details

A Ruskin St. resident found a burglar inside her home Sunday night. The victim confronted the woman about why she was there. The suspect said she had come in through an unlocked slider door and she was looking for a lighter. The victim kicked her out and later realized her wallet was missing. She also learned one of her stolen credit cards had been used to purchase cartons of cigarettes at a N. Sherman Ave. gas station.

On Monday, Labor Day, the MPD was on an unrelated call that resulted in an arrest for a battery. During the investigation, officers discovered the suspect had the burglary victim's credit cards.

She was taken into custody Monday afternoon following a disturbance outside a residence on Mallard Lane. A 54-year old woman said the suspect, an acquaintance, had come asking for money. The older woman told her to leave. This led to a shouting match that ended with the suspect pushing the victim.

The 36-year old has tentatively been charged with several counts stemming from both criminal cases.
