Details

Rush-hour road rage leaves a Stoughton woman shaken and cut while the other driver, a 40-year old Madison man, leaves the scene in a squad car, tentatively charged with 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety.

It all took place yesterday afternoon. She believed he was following too close as both drove east on the busy W. Beltline Highway. The woman said she tapped her brakes to get him to back off, and that he responded by passing her and slamming on his brakes. After that, she tried to get away from him by changing lanes, but he kept up with her, repeatedly swerving at her car. Eventually his truck collided with her driver's side window, showering the woman in glass, as both drove at highway speeds. The two drivers pulled off at Todd Dr., as did an independent witness. The male driver claimed he was trying to escort the woman off of the freeway because he thought she was trying to kill him by hitting the brakes. He says she is the one who swerved and caused the collision, but the woman and the independent witness claimed otherwise. She ended up with small cuts on her arms from shards of window glass.
