Incident Report for Case #2014-97867

Incident Type

Residential Burglary

Incident Date

04/02/2014 - 11:28 PM

1300 block Frisch Rd.

MPD West District officers responded to three burglary calls between 9:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. last night, all in the same general geographic area where several other residential burglaries have been reported in the past several weeks.

Resolving these break-ins is a top priority for the West District, and additional resources and strategies are being used with hopes of identifying and apprehending suspects.

Last night, the first call came in just after 9:00 p.m. when a homeowner returned to his residence in the 1300 block of Frisch Rd. to find a garage door kicked in.  A door between the garage and the kitchen had also been forced open. Electronics, money, and prescription drugs were stolen.

While investigating this crime, a second call came in from the 6700 block of Jacobs Way. A concerned neighbor said there was a suspicious person lurking around the house next-door. He was described as black male, wearing a dark hoodie, dark hat, and dark jeans. Officers discovered a rock had been thrown through a patio door, but no entry was made. It is thought the neighbor's quick actions prompted the burglar to run.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., the MPD received the third call. A home in the 6500 block of Piping Rock Rd. had been burglarized while residents were away. A front door had been pushed in, and valuables were found to have been moved, but not taken. It appears this may also have been an interrupted burglary.

A police dog track indicated criminals were likely moving about in backyards and green spaces behind targeted homes.
