Details

The MPD, with the help of Capitol Police and an observant citizen, arrested two men following an armed robbery and beating last night.

A 20-year-old Sun Prairie man told police he and his girlfriend had just finished eating at Fazoli's, 2143 Zeirer Rd., when three men in a minivan asked if he had a cigarette. The victim walked toward the van and was then pulled inside. The driver of the van drove to a nearby parking lot. While inside, the victim was robbed of his money at gunpoint and battered by all three suspects. He was then released, after suffering multiple head injuries.

A witness got the van's plate number which was broadcast to area law enforcement.

A short time later, a Capitol Police officer spotted the van in the 4400 block of Buckeye Rd. MPD officers responded to assist, and two of three suspects were arrested on tentative charges listed above. One taken into custody said a third man had been in the van, but had left on foot just prior to the apprehensions.

The MPD would like to thank the alert citizen and Capitol Police for their help in getting suspects into custody quickly.
