Incident Report for Case #2018-117968

Incident Type

Weapons Violation

Incident Date

04/03/2018 - 10:22 PM

2800 Block of Coolidge St

Male, age 55, Madison

One bullet entered the bedroom of a 55-year-old man who was asleep in his bed. The round struck his mattress and came within inches of injuring or killing the victim. Investigators for the Violent Crimes Unit do not believe he was a target of the shooter, nor do they think anyone in his side of a duplex was involved in the violence. A witness reported seeing a man dressed in dark clothing running from the area of the adjoining home – the other side of the duplex - just after shots were fired. He got into a dark car with tinted windows and it sped away. VCU detectives are investigating, and it has not been determined who was the intended target. As previously released by the Officer In Charge, there were no injuries. There were many calls to 911 with many hearing the reports of multiple gunshots.
