UpdateThe carjacking took place outside of Great Beginnings Arbor Hills daycare center, 2821 Todd Dr.
At the time of the crime, a 36-year-old woman was inside the center picking up a child. Three of her family members - a 15-year-old boy (in front passenger seat), a nine-year-old boy (rear seat), and an eight-year-old girl (rear seat) – remained in the Ford Fusion.
Masked robbers flung open the front doors, pointing a gun at the teen while telling him to get the younger children out. He complied and kept everyone safe.
The stolen car was recovered by the MPD a short time later in the 7900 block of Tree Lane.
MPD's Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. Detectives believe this case is likely linked to a similar carjacking that took place Wednesday afternoon.

DetailsThe Madison Police responded to this location reference a carjacking that had occurred. The four victims were in a vehicle when two African American males, one armed with a handgun, opened up the doors and demanded they exit the car. Everyone exited and the suspects took the car from the area. None of the occupants of the car were injured.
The car was recovered by the Madison Police and the investigation is ongoing at this time.
