Incident Report for Case #2018-474344

Incident Type

Residential Burglary

Incident Date

12/08/2018 - 12:05 AM

Riva Rd.

Peggy L. Fleming, age 38, Madison
Suspect was arrested for burglary and obstructing.

Female, age 47, Madison

She had left the front door unlocked, knowing that her daughter would be home soon. But when a Riva Rd. mother heard the door open early Saturday morning, she knew it could not be her daughter. The mom has a phone application that shows her daughter's location in real time, and the phone clearly showed she was not home yet. Knowing an intruder was inside her home, the woman went to investigate. She found a stranger in the dining room, and ordered the unknown person to get out. The intruder did depart, and shortly thereafter the victim realized her wallet was missing from her purse. She called police. Officers were in the area quickly - and with the help of the victim - caught up with the suspect. She was arrested for burglary and obstructing after providing a fake name. She likely did not want officers to know her true identity as she has been arrested by the MPD for similar crimes in the past.
