Details

On August 22, 2019 at approximately 10:43pm, Madison Police Officers were dispatched to both 3528 E. Washington Avenue (Kwik Trip) and 3710 E. Washington Avenue (Walgreens Pharmacy) regarding an Assist EMS and Weapons Violation respectively. Officers, a Sergeant, and Police Investigator quickly determined that both calls were related.

The suspect and victim in this case are known to each other, and although neither had seen the other in six years, the remnants of a past feud ignited tonight when they passed by each other at Walgreens. The victim, taking what the suspect said to her as a threat went to the parking lot to retrieve pepper spray from her vehicle. The suspect followed her out, lunged at her when she was at her car, and the two women engaged each other in a physical confrontation.

The victim sustained a superficial laceration to her back and puncture wound to her abdomen from an edged weapon. The victim's injuries are not life threatening. The suspect was sprayed with pepper spray. Neither the edged weapon used nor the pepper spray were recovered by police although there was evidence that both were in fact used. The suspect was arrested for 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety. If anyone has any information or witnessed the altercation please contact Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014 or non-emergency Dispatch at 608-255-2345.
