Farmer was arrested for battery and disorderly conduct.


An employee of a downtown restaurant was taken to the ground by a homeless man Tuesday evening. Once down, the victim said the suspect put both hands around his throat. He believed the attack would have not stopped save for the intervention of several concerned people who came to the victim's aid. The suspect was taken to the Dane County Jail on a tentative charges of batter and disorderly conduct. The victim said the attack happened on the Capitol Square, near his place of work, after the suspect and a woman returned where both had left a pile of their belongings for a period of time. The couple yelled out: "Did anyone f- with our s-!" The victim said he had noticed their belongings and let the man and woman know that no one had bothered their property or stolen anything. The woman took exception to his response, saying they were not directing their question to him, but to someone else. The victim said the woman became very confrontational with him. The suspect stepped in, took the victim down, and got on top of the frightened man. The victim yelled: "Dude what you are doing!" "Dude get off!" Bystanders heard his pleas and helped pull the suspect off as police responded to the scene.
