Abrocio Contreras-Nava, age 31, Madison
Suspect was arrested for attempted strong-armed robbery, disorderly conduct and obstructing.


Female, age 56, Madison


 The frightened victim was shocked and "freaked out" that someone would attempt to rob her in broad daylight. She said the suspect forcefully pulled at her bag for a couple of minutes as she struggled as hard as she could to maintain control. She eventually won out and immediately called police. The suspect was still in the area. He provided a fake name, and was eventually identified at the Dane County Jail thanks to technology at the facility. It was there that a preliminary blood alcohol test was also performed. The suspect registered a 0.324.

On 9-15-19, a woman was walking in the 600 block of S. Park Street, when a 31 year old male tried to grab a bag that the woman was carrying in her hand. The woman struggled wit the suspect, and was able to keep him from taking her belongings. Once officers were dispatched, they located the suspect who was still close to the scene. From the investigation, he was taken to the Dane County Jail on charges of attempted strong armed robbery, disorderly conduct, and obstructing a peace officer.
