This morning, VCU detectives, MPD SWAT, and patrol officers took one suspect into custody without incident after he was located inside a home on Hoard St. Leearthur L. Taylor is currently being questioned at MPD's Central District. The second suspect is still being sought.

Arrest warrants are now out for Larence G. Thomas, age 37, Madison and Leearthur L. Taylor, age 33, Madison. The MPD has developed probable to arrest both men on tentative first degree intentional homicide charges. Anyone with information on their whereabouts should contact 911. Both should be considered armed and dangerous.

The Dane County Medical Examiner has identified the homicide victim as Malik J. Moss, age 19, Sun Prairie. The MPD's Violent Crimes Unit believes Moss was killed following a dispute with suspects who were known to him. Moss was shot several times by at least one assailant, and detectives have learned there were multiple armed men in the area at the time of the gun violence. Also present, when gunfire broke out, were a number of uninvolved people, including children. Arriving officers immediately performed life-saving measures, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene. Thanks to extremely good surveillance video, VCU detectives are making solid progress in the case.

Update 10-18-19: The U.S. Marshalls arrested Larence G Thomas in Mississippi. No further information at this time.

Madison Police officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 500 block of Northport Dr.  Upon arrival, officers located one male with a gunshot wound. The male later died as a result of his injuries. More information will be released as it becomes available.
