The City of Madison, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is proposing to reconstruct East Johnson Street from North Butler Street to North Baldwin Street in 2014.
The project is scheduled to be let by WisDOT on April 8, 2014. The preliminary start date for the street reconstruction work is May 6, 2014.
Private utility companies will be installing new facilities prior to the project. AT&T is installing new buried communications lines at spot locations within the project limits and will be completing splicing operations within their utility vaults throughout the month of December, 2013.
Madison Gas & Electric and the American Transmission Company will be installing new buried facilities beginning approximately April 1, 2014. This utility construction work will take place at the E. Johnson / N Butler / N Hamilton intersection and at the E. Johnson and N Livingston Intersection.
The City will host a pre-construction public informational meeting in April 2014, prior to the start of the street reconstruction project. The purpose of the pre-construction public meeting will be to inform the public of construction related issues and scheduling.
There will also be business meetings held every two weeks throughout the project, beginning in April, 2014 with the contractor and interested business representatives and residents. The times and dates of the business meetings will be determined after the project is let and the Contractor is selected.
