MONONA PROGRAMS AND LESSONS

Program Description:
Monona Golf Course Sunday Night Golf Clinics are designed for the new golfer.   This free golf clinic is one hour, followed by free access to golf course or range for additional hour.

Cost:  FREE !!

Registration:  To register, call 266-4736.  Each clinic will be limited to 20 participants.  Each participant is limited to 4 (four) clinics.

Introduction: Staff

Rob Muranyi: PGA Golf Professional, Monona Golf Course, since 1980.

Brent Mann: Assistant Golf Professional, Teaching Assistant

 

  1. Established a simple pre-shot routine:
    1. Start out behind the ball in line with the target.
    2. Apply your hands to the club correctly.
    3. Approach ball and set club at 90-degree angle to the target line.
    4. Set feet, equal distance on each side of the golf club, club is in the middle of your stance not the ball.
    5. Look down your target line to the target, take the club back slowly and finish in balance on the left foot facing the target.
  2. Slow play is the biggest problem plaguing golf today.
    1. Start where you can reach the green in at least par number of swings.
    2. Limit three swings for par 3’s, four swings on par 4’s, and five swings on par 5’s, then carry your ball to the green and putt out.
    3. Continuous putting rule, when you start putting finish out.
    4. Play procedure, go directly to your ball, and play when others are out of range.
    5. Yell FORE, if your ball may reach other players.
    6. Clubs to closest side to next teeing area, mark your scores when you reach next tee.
  3. Etiquette:
    1. Fix balls marks on greens left by your ball landing on the putting surface.
    2. Replace divots taken on the teeing area and on the fairways and roughs.
    3. Rake bunkers after you have played your shot, take rack into bunker to save time.
    4. Save conversation for the teeing areas while you are waiting on the group ahead.
