The South District is hosting its annual COMMUNITY TRAFFIC
WATCH PROGRAM for South District neighborhood associations. The
Community Traffic Watch program is designed to incorporate community
involvement in an effort to encourage safe driving behavior on
neighborhood streets.
Speeding, red light running and other traffic safety issues have been
identified as important concerns throughout the South District. With the
assistance of concerned residents documenting traffic issues, MPD can use
the information obtained from observations to help focus our traffic
enforcement efforts.
Residents can conduct traffic watch observations after attending a one-hour
training conducted by officers from the South District. The training will
cover use of the laser unit, speed board and red signal observation.
Neighborhood Association members will be able to borrow a laser unit to
assist with documenting speed violations.
The Community Traffic Watch Program Workshop will be held on
Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 6 PM, in the South District Community
Room. Please call 266-5938 to RSVP.
