MPD’s neighborhood officers are assigned to specific areas of the City. The neighborhoods are geographically small, and typically have a high need for police services.
Neighborhood officers work full-time in their assigned neighborhoods. Rather than responding to calls for police service, they take a proactive approach to find long-term solution to problems in their areas. Neighborhood officers are typically assigned to their areas for up to four years, and they become very familiar with their neighborhoods and residents.
