Rent Abatement Publication |
Tenants and former tenants[1] of the following addresses are eligible to apply for Rent Abatement per Madison General Ordinance 32.06(2).
Application for hearings must be filed with the Rent Clerk in the Building Inspection Unit located in the Madison Municipal Building[2]. There is a $10.00 filing fee which may be waived if low income guidelines are met.
You may apply between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. If you have any questions, call 266-4551 and ask to speak to the Rent Abatement Clerk.

[1]Rent Abatement Hearing eligibility is a result of the property owner=s failure to repair Housing Code violations by the date set in an Official Notice. Former tenants may apply for this process only if they have lived in the Apartment sometime between the original inspection which resulted in the Official Notice and the present date.
[2]The Inspection Unit is in the Department of Planning & Development on the ground floor, Rm LL-100, of the Madison Municipal Building. The Building is across from the City County Building, at 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, one block from the Capitol Square.
