Department of Planning & Development

The Department of Planning & Development provides technical assistance to neighborhood associations, especially in the areas of: formation of neighborhood associations, preparation of mid-range neighborhood plans, and provision of statistical information that assesses the conditions of neighborhood areas. Other services include administration of grant programs that assist neighborhood organizations to prepare mid-range plans for neighborhood areas, improve the physical environment, and/or build capacity of leaders.

Community Development Block Grant Office

The CDBG Office promotes healthy neighborhoods by supporting neighborhood-focused revitalization efforts which improve housing, expand economic opportunities and improve services, particularly in lower income neighborhoods. The Office provides proposal development, project planning, technical and financial assistance to community groups within neighborhoods. Office of Community Services

The Office of Community Services oversees the purchase of services from community-based non-profit organizations which provide various social services to Madison residents. Staff members help to develop, provide technical assistance for and evaluate services specifically designed to improve the quality of life for seniors, youth, and residents of the City’s low-income neighborhoods.
