Neighborhood Grants

Neighborhood Grants provide funds to build organizational capacity, beautify public places, and create community gathering places. These grants help improve quality of life in neighborhoods, and across the city. The Planning Division expects that the Common Council will award grants totaling approximately $25,000 in 2026.

How to Apply for Neighborhood Grants

  1. Prepare Your Project

    Meet with your neighborhood to plan a project and share this idea with your alder. Visit the Common Council webpage to find your alder and their contact information.

  2. Read the Grant Guidelines

  3. Email Grant Organizers

    Email Linda Horvath and Angela Puerta at neighborhoods@cityofmadison.com by February 3rd to discuss your group’s eligibility and project idea, or to ask questions

  4. Apply

    There are three ways to apply. Applications are due by February 10, 4:30 p.m.

    1. Online Application Form
    2. Fill out the PDF application at the end of the Guidelines linked above.
    3. Video Applications:
      • Answer all application questions (see PDFs above)
      • Video must be no longer than 10 minutes
      • Post your video to YouTube and email the link to neighborhoods@cityofmadison.com.
