Profile, Statistics and Indicators
Neighborhood Description: The Wexford Ridge Neighborhood is a multifamily community. The residential area is within walking distance to public schools (Jefferson Middle and Memorial High School are located across the street) and a regional shopping center (West Towne Mall area). The former Wexford Ridge Neighborhood Center space has been recently occupied by a team of service people: Police, Joining Forces for Families, and the Public Health Nurse. This team was created to bring more services into the neighborhood for the residents. The Lussier Community Education Center (LCEC), formerly Wexford Ridge Community Center, is strategically situated across the street on the Jefferson Middle School and Memorial High School campuses at 55 S. Gammon Road in Madison, Wisconsin.
Neighborhood Boundaries: West of South Gammon Road between Colony Drive and Tree Lane
Neighborhood Statistics Indicators: The Neighborhood Indicators Project is a demonstration of key characteristics and various indicators that relate to the quality of life in Madison at the neighborhood level. Basic neighborhood information as well as housing, public safety, health and family well-being, economic, and transportation indicators by neighborhood is available.
Recent Accomplishments: -The former Wexford Ridge Neighborhood Center space has been recently occupied by a team of service people: Joining Forces for Families, Madison-Dane County Public Health Nurse, and Madison Police Officer. This team was created to bring additional services into the neighborhood for the residents.

-Received a City of Madison Neighborhood Planning Grant to 1) create intensive, relational forums for the community to come together to develop shared visions and plans for their community and 2) culminate in a participatory community sculpture project under the direction of Wisconsin artist, Joel Pfeiffer (2008).

-Through a school-city-community partnership, the Lussier Community Education Center at 55 Gammon Road, on school-owned land adjacent to Jefferson Middle School and Memorial High School, opened its doors in September 2008.

-Residents and supporters from surrounding neighborhoods, nearby churches, local service clubs, and friends from the schools came together to discuss building a "real" community center on the West side. Negotiations were held with the school district, city staff, and elected officials. Legislation was signed by Governor Doyle enabling in a 45-year partnership agreement and lease between WRNC and MMSD to build the Lussier Community Education Center (2001-2004).

-In the mid-1970s, Wexford Ridge residents organized what would come to be called the Wexford Ridge Community Association (WRCA). Volunteers created a neighborhood center in a vacant townhouse to provide children's activities, food assistance, and employment assistance for adults. Nearby community agencies provided services, and other long-standing partnerships were formed with area churches and the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD).
