RSVP and Madison Public Library Collaborate on New Collection for Retirement Planning

posted

RSVP and Madison Public Library will collaborate on THE NEXT CHAPTER, a collection of information and series of programs for retirees or those planning their retirement. THE NEXT CHAPTER collection, created with a gift to the library from Bob and Carroll Heideman and RSVP, is a one-stop shop where retirees or persons approaching retirement can find the information they need to take charge of their future and create a life they love living. The collection consists of books, DVDs, magazines, articles, and other information, complimented by an electronic newsletter sent every other month. Currently housed at the Alicia Ashman Branch, the collection is supplemented by related materials in all Madison Public libraries. Jan Fulwiler, Ph.D., psychologist and retirement coach, will present "Refocusing and Rebalancing for Your Bonus Years" at the Grand Opening of THE NEXT CHAPTER collection. The grand opening will take place on Saturday, January 26 from 10 a.m. - noon at the Alicia Ashman Branch Library, 733 North High Point Road. Jan Fulwiler, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist, social worker, and certified professional retirement coach. She has over 25 years creating group experiences where people build on their strengths, support each other, and achieve life goals. She uses her background in positive psychology and the science of happiness to help people get the most out of their lives. As part of the collaboration, RSVP and Madison Public Library will also present additional programs throughout the year on aging, health, financial planning for retirement, the benefits of volunteering, and other related topics. RSVP of Dane County offers volunteer opportunities and guidance for over 2000 retirees in Dane County who are choosing to use their professional experience and skills to stay engaged and give back to the children, families, and older people in the county. RSVP has relationships with 90 non-profit groups in the area and is one of the largest volunteer placement agencies in the county. Interested persons can subscribe to receive email updates of newly purchased library materials, articles of interest, and advance notice of additional THE NEXT CHAPTER events at http://www.madisonpubliclibrary.org/subscribe/
