Northeast Neighborhood
Development Plan

Welcome
to the website for the Northeast
Neighborhood Development Plan.
This plan is being prepared by the
City of Madison to help guide
future urban development within a
planning area generally north of
Interstate
Highway 94 and east of Interstate
Highway 39-90-94 and the Wisconsin
& Southern rail line (see
Study Area map below). The plan
will include detailed
recommendations regarding future
land uses, the future
transportation network (including
major and local streets, bicycle
trails and pedestrian trails), and
the extension of the full range of
urban services, including public
sanitary sewer and water service.
After adoption by the Madison Plan
Commission and Common Council, the
plan will provide the primary
basis for the review of future
specific development proposals.
This
website contains information about
future public meetings and other
planning events, copies of maps
and other background information,
alternative development concept
sketches that may be prepared for
discussion during the planning
process, and ultimately, the draft
plan that will be forwarded for
formal review and adoption at the
conclusion of the process.

Northeast
Study
Area
|

The
study area for the Northeast
Neighborhood Development Plan is
generally bounded by Interstate
Highway 94, Interstate Highway
39-90-94, the Wisconsin &
Southern rail line, Nelson Road,
Thorson Road and a line east of
County Trunk Highway T.
Since the study area is a
relatively large area, the Plan
will make detailed recommendations
for lands that may develop in the
near term.
Less detailed
recommendations will be made for
the balance of the study area.
It is important that
planning for future development
throughout the study area be
carefully coordinated, regardless
of the timing.
