500-600 Blocks State Street (Spring/Summer 2007)
The City of Madison has scheduled the reconstruction of the 500 & 600 blocks of State Street for 2007. Reconstruction of the 100 through 400 blocks of State Street has been completed and provides the blueprint for the remaining phase.  The reconstruction of State Street is a complete reconstruction project, including roadway and utility infrastructure, streetscape, lighting and district identity. The City has retained MSA Professional Services, Inc. and Ken Saiki Design for design of the reconstruction. This design team is currently refining the conceptual design to develop detailed construction plans for the 500 & 600 blocks of State Street.

This Phase includes the Gilman Street/Broom Street/State Street intersection, the Lake Street/State Street intersection, the South Frances Street Public Area, the North Frances Street Public Area (Concrete Park), and Hawthorne Court area. (For the Gilman Street/Broom Street/State Street intersection, the underground utility work was completed this summer, along with sidewalk, etc., on the 400 block State Street side of the intersection. Work at this intersection next summer will concentrate more on the surface street and the 500 block State Street side, including the south corner area of the intersection of Broom/Gilman/State).
