ASSISTANT PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR I (HOURLY)

CLASS DESCRIPTION

General Responsibilities:

This is administrative support and technical work as an assistant to the CitiCable Programming Coordinator. The employee in this position is responsible for using the AMIGA computer system to maintain CitiCable 12's Community Bulletin Board, to present information relative to the Common Council and other public meetings cablecast on CitiCable, and to perform other related functions and specialized projects. The work also involves performing a variety of other functions relative to CitiCable programming and is performed under the general supervision of the CitiCable Programming Coordinator.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain CitiCable 12's Community Bulletin Board (CBB). Update the CBB on the AMIGA system by entering public service announcements, promos, press releases, etc. that are sent to CitiCable.

Update the title pages for meetings of the Dane County Board, Madison School Board and Madison Common Council. Input Madison Common Council agendas into the AMIGA computer system.

Categorize, prioritize and edit public service announcements (PSA's) and determine which are played and when. Create credit pages as necessary.

Record the number of City, County, State and non-governmental public service announcements, promos, press releases, etc. sent to CitiCable versus the number actually put on the Community Bulletin Board.

Perform special projects involving the creation of specific products using such paint, presentation, and character generation software. Work with Production Directors to create desired graphic products.

Dub or edit tapes, as needed.

Act as production assistant or Master Control Operator, as needed.

Perform related work as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledges, Skills and Abilities:

Basic knowledge of television programming, scheduling and cablecasting methods and procedures. Basic knowledge of program/production planning, taping and editing. Working knowledge of specialized computer systems and software such as the AMIGA computer system and related software. Knowledge of basic office and administrative practices and procedures. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to accurately input data and prepare basic reports. Ability to learn and effectively use the AMIGA computer system software and other related systems and equipment.

Training and Experience:

Six months of office/clerical experience involving the use of word processing, paint, presentation and/or character generation software. College level work in an area related to television, programming and/or production may be substituted for experience. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledges, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
