Improving Housing, Jobs and Services for the Neighborhoods of Madison.

The Community Development (CDBG) Office is a public investment agency within the Madison Department of Planning and Development that works with community-based non-profit organizations to improve the quality of life for Madison's low- and moderate-income people and neighborhoods.

A CDBG Committee establishes overall policy and makes funding recommendations to the Mayor and the Common Council for a range of Federal, State, local resources available for community and neighborhood development activities.

We work with a number of partners — suppliers and customers, residents and neighborhoods — and have attempted to organize this website to provide a range of information regarding our longer range goals, our resources, and our investments in the community.

Celebrating 30 Years of the CDBG Program in the City of Madison - 1975-2005

We welcome your interest, your ideas about emerging opportunities and innovative projects, and your suggestions for improvement in programs.
