On Tuesday, 7/15, Officers from the Madison Police Department conducted an enhanced enforcement project on E Washington Ave near Pawling St (the site of a recent fatal car/pedestrian crash). From 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm officers conducted a total of 16 stops for speeding.
During the project the highest recorded speed in the 30 MPH zone was 59 MPH, with several additional stops made for vehicles straveling at least 20 MPH over the speed limit.
Please slow down, and watch closely for pedestrians and bicyclists sharing the roadway.
These additional enforcement efforts are made possible through traffic overtime grants provided by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
