D13 Vision Zero Initiatives

The Vision Zero project list will be presented to the Transportation Commission tonight. The list includes two projects on South Park Street.

The first would reduce speed on Park St from 30 to 25 mph from Regent St to Badger Rd. The reason for this proposed change is the high number of pedestrian crossings expected to increase with the addition of residential housing.

The second involves a proposed change to the intersection of Park and Wingra Dr. The plan is to add a no right turn on eastbound Wingra at Park, remove right turn lane and add curb extensions. The purpose of this change is that restricting right turn on red will decrease conflicts with the bike/ped crossing path and increase yielding compliance. Adding the curb extension will shorten the crossing.

Solar Opportunities

The Dane County Solar Group Buy offers homeowners, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations in Dane County easy access to solar, features high quality solar equipment with extended warranties and offers an overall reduction in cost due to economies of scale. Not only does the Federal Tax Credit of 26% apply, as well as Focus on Energy and other utility rebates, but this program also offers a financing option through greenpenny, a virtual and carbon-neutral bank dedicated to sustainable financing that is located in the Midwest, and serves residents, businesses, non-profits and farmers.

A few things D13 neighbors can do:

Take care and stay safe.
