Family Definition Community Meeting and Other Highlights for the Week of January 30, 2023

Family Definition Community Informational Meetings

Building Inspection staff will be hosting two community informational meetings about the proposed legislation to revise the family definition in our zoning code. These meetings are intended to provide information to community members about the proposal and to answer questions about it.

• Thursday, February 2 at Noon : You are invited to a Zoom meeting. Please register in advance.

• Monday, February 6 at 6:00 PM: You are invited to a Zoom meeting. Please register in advance.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Read more about the legislation.

• Request Absentee Ballots for 2023 Elections - Elections scheduled for February 21 and April 4.

• 2023 Spring Primary Election - Several offices on the ballot this spring require a primary election on Feb. 21. District 19 has two candidates running for Alder, so there won't be a Feb. 21 primary for that election, but there will be for in the Mayoral and State Supreme Court elections. The Council website allows you to find out which Aldermanic district you live in.  If you live in Aldermanic districts 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 12, 14, or 20, you will see the primary races for your district on your ballot.

• Celebrate Black History Month at Madison Public Library: February is Black History Month, an annual celebration of the achievements by African Americans and a time to honor the central role of black Americans throughout history and in the present day. • Don't forget to vote for the names of the snowplows! The election closes at 8:00pm on Friday, Feb. 3. Make sure to tell your friends and family to vote as well.

• New South Madison Tax Incremental Financing District Proposed - Note that proposed amendments include a proposed transfer of $47.2M from TID #36 (primarily the East Washington corridor) to the new South Madison TID and $4.5M from TID #36 to the Madison Public Market.

• The 2023 Neighborhood Grant Program is Open! The guidelines and application are now on the City's webpage! See the News Story for more info. Applications are due Feb. 20 by 4:30 p.m.

• Dane County Community Housing Survey: A 10-minute Community Housing Survey to share your thoughts on housing and affordability for our community is available. All participants will be entered into a raffle to win a $25 gift card
