posted

The week of December 17 has items of possible interest to residents of district 2 at the Parks Long Range Planning Subcommittee, Committee on the Environment, Sustainable Madison Committee, the Landmarks Commission, the Plan Commission, City County Homeless Issues Committee, the Historic District Ordinance Revisions – Round Three – Mansion Hill, the Landlord Tenant Issues Committee, the Zoning Board of Appeals, the Madison Policy Department Policy & Procedure Review Ad Hoc Committee, and the Downtown Coordinating Committee. The city meeting agenda items are open for testimony from the public should you be interested in weighing in.  I also appreciate hearing from you on any items on which you have a particular interest or concern so please send me an email or give me a call.

Also, committees and commissions have an opportunity at the beginning of each agenda for Public Comment on items not on the agenda.  If you have something you want to share with a committee or commission, you can use the Public Comment time to do so.

Agenda Item 5
Projects for 2019.  Possible work item for the Parks Long Range Planning Subcommittee in 2019:

Dogs in Parks policy (expansion of dogs on-leash in parks):

Off-Leash Dog Park Design Guidelines Policy was developed and adopted in 2016. The policy also provided direction on how one may allow off leash dog walking in certain parks. Parks staff would like LRP to help with the development of a policy for allowing dogs on-leash to the majority, if not all parks in the system. This would require a change to the Madison General Ordinance. The issue will need careful community engagement and consideration (a survey and at least two public input meetings). Should there be areas where dogs are not allowed, such as playgrounds and beaches?
