Engine 14 Called to Game of 'Cat and Mouse' Gone Wrong

A cat – and hamster – are safe and sound after the cat’s attempt at catching the hamster went awry.

Engine Co. 14 was called to a home on Lake Point Drive to help a cat that was stuck in a hamster cage. Firefighters were met by a young woman holding onto the cat, whose body was stuck in the hamster cage door. She told firefighters the cat was “trying to go after the hamster” when it got stuck.

The hamster, meanwhile, was seen walking around the apartment in a plastic ball, safe from the feline’s unwelcome home invasion.

Firefighters tried to free the cat, but eventually the cat simply became scared enough that it freed itself from the hamster’s cage.

The owner told firefighters she was so happy the cat was out and thanked them for coming to help.
