Groundbreaking Ceremony Scheduled for Fire Station #13

The City of Madison Fire Department will host a groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station #13 on Tuesday, July 23 at 9:00 a.m. The location for the new fire house is 6350 Town Center Drive, near the intersection of Sprecher Road and Milwaukee Street on Madison's east side. Invited dignitaries for Tuesday's ceremony include: Fire Chief Steve Davis, Mayor Paul Soglin, U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin (or representative), U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (or representative), Firefighters Local 311 President Joe Conway, Jr., District 3 Alder Lauren Cnare, and Mike Schuchardt of Miron Construction. Personnel to staff Station 13 will initially be funded through a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.
