MPD NEW WEBSITE LAUNCHED

posted

"Facebook" "Twitter" Now Available

The countdown to launch began - at least conceptually - more than one year ago. This afternoon it culminated; not with great fanfare, but the Madison Police Department's new user-friendly website, www.madisonpolice.com, experienced a smooth "blastoff" into cyberspace. Chief Noble Wray is hoping the improved site will become a "favorite" of those living in the greater Madison area - and beyond. Feedback on the old site indicated it was difficult to navigate. It had a lot of content, but many things were hard to find. The new website makes greater use of visuals: photographs, maps. It has also been laid out in a customer friendly fashion. Citizens can quickly look up everything from district newsletters, to crime news, to self-report forms, to neighborhood officers, to information on special units like Safety Education, Dane County Drug and Gang Task Force, and Amigos en Azul. Residents can also sign up for new social networking, as the Madison Police Department is now utilizing "Facebook" and "Twitter" to get crime updates out to subscribing citizens.
