Madison homeowners receive letter about sewer warranty program

posted

Madison homeowners are receiving letters in the mail this week to notify them of a new, optional sanitary sewer service warranty program. The City Engineering Division is now receiving a high volume of phone calls from citizens seeking to confirm the legitimacy of the letter, as well as to learn more about the warranty program. Mike Dailey, Deputy City Engineer, said the letter is legitimate and that Service Line Warranties of America was selected to administer this warranty through a competitive Request for Proposal process. "The proposal was reviewed by a City staff team, which included professional engineers and operational staff," Dailey said. "The selection process took about a year to complete and the letters are the first step in rolling out the program." Dailey said some callers have also expressed concern about address information. "The City did not provide mailing information to Service Line Warranties of America. They purchased the mailing list and some of the names are incorrect and properties such as multi-unit dwellings also received the letter." Information about this optional program is available on the City's website, www.cityofmadison.com. Citizens may also contact the City Engineering Division at (608) 266-4430. Please be advised that you may experience a longer time on hold and your patience is appreciated.
