MFD Investigators Find Causes for Three Structure Fires

City of Madison fire investigators have determined a cause for each of three structure fires occurring last week.

A kitchen fire that killed three pets Thursday night at 725 Pulley Drive was determined to be accidental in nature as a result of an unspecified electrical fault/failure. The occupants were not home at the time. Damages were estimated at $40,000.

Another kitchen fire that same night at 4505 Tennessee Trail was the result of unattended cooking by the residents. The damage estimate for that fire was $75,000.

Friday morning’s fire at the GEF 1 building, 201 East Washington Avenue was ruled accidental in nature as a result of an unspecified electrical fault/failure. The building has been returned to the property owners. Damage estimates for the building and its contents have been calculated at $350,000.

The cause of a fourth fire on Loomis Circle Wednesday night remains under investigation. That fire displaced 15 people with damages estimated at $500,000.
