The countdown begins!!

Just as your kids are counting down the days left of school, we are counting down the days until Goodman Pool opens for the season.

Goodman Pool, 325 W. Olin Ave., is THE place to hang out and cool off this summer. The pool opens for the 2014 season and offers zero depth splash features, a diving well, lap swim and two incredible slides. The concession cabanas are a perfect place to enjoy your lunch or even reserve this private space to host a summer birthday party!  If you haven’t signed your child up for swimming lessons or the Goodman Pool WAVES swim team yet – don’t wait!!

New in 2014, thanks to a grant from the Madison Parks Foundation, there is a NEW playground at the pool. It features a poured-rubber surface covered by artificial turf, creating a much safer and sand-free area for children and families to enjoy. Targeted to young children, the new design encourages kids to crawl, climb and play.

More good news…on Friday, June 13 will be Goodman Day
Goodman’s Jewelers, 220 State Street, will be sponsoring the day by providing free admission to the first 500 kids to come to the pool on Friday, June 13.  Gates open at noon on Friday.

“Goodman’s Jewelers is proud to sponsor this event at the Madison Parks Goodman Pool in honor of Irwin and Robert Goodman,” says John Hayes, owner of Goodman’s Jewelers.

Irwin and Bob Goodman were long-time supporters of many organizations in Madison, including Madison Parks.  Their donation of $2.8 million for the construction of the pool was needed impetus to get a pool built in Madison.  Even after the pool was built, they continued to support it by establishing a scholarship fund.  Hundreds of children, regardless of their income level, have learned how to swim at Madison Parks Goodman Pool.

“The Goodman Foundation continues to support the Goodman Pool Scholarship program which provides funding to hundreds of youth each summer,” says Eric Knepp, Madison Parks Assistant Parks Superintendent.  “We are thankful to Goodman’s Jewelers for sponsoring the first 500 kids to come through the gate on Goodman Day at the pool.”
