Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District--North Randall Avenue & Regent Street Sewer Lining Project

posted

Beginning Monday, April 10th, Michels Corporation will set up traffic control to line the existing Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) sanitary sewer that runs underneath North Randall Street from West Dayton Street to Regent Street, and on Regent Street from North Randall Street to East Campus Mall.

This project will rehabilitate the existing sanitary sewer with a new lining to extend the life of the sewer.  The alternative to this process is to install new sanitary sewer, which would require an open-trench and excavation of the entire length of the sewer.

Parking will be removed from much of North Randall Street and Regent Street in these areas.  Both North Randall Street and Regent Street will have one lane of traffic in each direction at all times (see the attached map).  The exact location of the parking removal will depend on where the contractor is actively working.

Much of the work will occur within intersections and will necessitate closing traffic on side streets leading into Regent Street. Again, the side streets that will be closed will depend on the location the contractor is actively working.

See the attached traffic control plan for details.

Delays on Regent Street are expected during the morning and afternoon peak traffic periods.

Information about street projects can be found on the city of Madison website:

The MMSD Sewer Lining Project is expected to last until approximately June 30th, 2017.

Additional news releases will be sent out during the project as traffic patterns change.
