Emergency Storm Sewer Repair at Monona Terrace Walkway

posted

On Saturday June 17, 2017, a storm sewer located underneath the walkway connecting the Martin Luther King Jr Blvd/Wilson St intersection to Monona Terrace failed and created a large sinkhole. Emergency repairs are being coordinated and will occur this week. The hole has been fenced off and fencing has been installed to identify allowable walk routes. Please take extra caution when walking through this area.

City staff are working with Monona Terrace as it prepares for a conference this week to assure guests safe passage into and out of the facility. This weekend’s Shake the Lake activities in the area will not be affected by the sinkhole, as guests to the rooftop will be able to access that venue as well.
