Mayor Paul Soglin Names Charlie Romines Madison Streets Superintendent

Madison Mayor Paul Soglin announced today that Charlie Romines has been appointed Madison Streets Superintendent. Romines has been a City of Madison employee since 2011. He is currently serving as Assistant Parks Superintendent.

In his role as Assistant Parks Superintendent Romines has managed parks operations for all city parks, forestry division, parks construction and facilities, mall concourse, Forest Hill Cemetery and golf enterprise. He has managed 165 full time employees and 300 seasonal employees.

As Streets Superintendent, he will oversee a staff of over 180 employees and oversee the planning and management of the numerous programs at the Streets Division. Those operations include, but are not limited to, snow and ice control, solid waste management and street maintenance.

"Charlie has been a valued member of the Public Works team in the City," said Mayor Soglin. "I am pleased that he will transfer his skills and ideas to work with our dedicated Streets employees."

A native of Michigan, Romines earned an Operations Management degree from Central Michigan University and a Turf Grass Management degree from Michigan State University. Prior to his employment with the City of Madison, he worked in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Charlotte, North Carolina.
