Wear Orange – A Rally to Call for Peace on Our Streets

Join us THIS Friday June 2nd, 5-7pm, for an event honoring #WearOrangeDay and National Gun Violence Awareness Day. This event will be raising awareness and call for an end to gun violence. There will be food, music speeches from community leaders and activities for kids. Local community organizations and resource tables will also be available to inform of work being done and ways to get involved with the ongoing fight against gun violence. Free Fun Weekend in Madison Parks

Enjoy permit-free days in Madison's parks, Saturday and Sunday, June 3 and 4, 2023! No permit is required to try out a disc golf course, bring your dog to a park or access the lakes.

DISC GOLF

A daily or annual permit is typically required to play a City of Madison disc golf course. No permit required to play June 3 and 4 at the following:

Elver Park, 1250 McKenna Blvd.
Hiestand, 4302 Milwaukee St.

DOG PERMIT

A Dog Permit is typically required for any dog visiting a park – on-leash where allowed or an off-leash park. No permit is required on June 3 and 4 for the following:

Odana School, 678 S. Segoe Rd.
Quann, 1802 Quann-Olin Pkwy.

LAKE ACCESS

A daily or annual Lake Access Permit is typically required for the use of designated boat launches. No permit is required on June 3 or 4 for the following:

Olbrich, 3401 Atwood Ave. (Note: The launch is open during Atwood Ave. construction)
Olin, 1156 Olin-Turville Ct.
Marshall, 2101 Allen Blvd.

Public Meetings Scheduled to Review Madison Beltline Study Draft Strategy Packages

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Southwest Region is hosting two upcoming public involvement meetings for the Madison Beltline Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) Study. The meetings will provide an update on the status of the study and gather input.

During the meetings, WisDOT will review the Draft Strategy Packages assembled to address long term safety, accessibility, operational, and infrastructure concerns on approximately 20 miles of US 12/14/18/151 (Beltline) extending from US 14 (city of Middleton) to County N (town of Cottage Grove) in Dane County.

This is an invitation to attend one of the upcoming public involvement meetings where priorities for potential improvements being considered will be reviewed as well as an opportunity for project staff to gather feedback to assist in determining the potential long-term solutions for the corridor. The same material will be presented at both meetings, providing the public a choice for which meeting works best in their schedule.

The meetings will take place:

Tuesday, June 6 | 5 – 6:30pm (Presentation at 5:30 pm) | Vel Phillips Memorial High School - Wisconsin Neighborhood Center (201 S. Gammon Rd)

Wednesday, June 7 | 5 – 6:30pm (Presentation at 5:30 pm) | Boys and Girls Club of Dane County (4619 Jenewein Rd, Fitchburg)
